LaDarrius, or better known as "LD", joined our Team back in November 2020.  Shortly after in early 2022, LD and his Team were faced with organizational challenges that they were not accustomed to.  The decision was made to close down the Legacy BSI location in Trussville, AL and join efforts with what is now the combined Continental Battery Systems of Birmingham.  LD played a huge role in the consolidation piece and almost immediately adopted the new change, different culture and most of all, his new Teammates!  He frequently pulls orders faster than expectations and with an extremely high accuracy, allowing us to service our customers more effectively. When standard work is completed, he goes above and beyond to find additional ways to improve the warehouse, whether it be organization, cleaning, or assisting with other orders. LD has been instrumental in the overall progress and strides it has taken to be successful as ONE TEAM.

When I think about what it takes to build a great team, whether in sports or business, it is not enough to just have great performers.  In order to be a great team, each team member has to consciously strive to make their teammates better.  No one exemplifies this better than Tom Kauffman, CDL Driver in Phoenix C8500 who has been with us for 28 years.  Tom is an expert at the roadside inspection and his record with level 1 inspections is incredible.  Beyond this though, Tom has been a huge help to me by coaching other drivers and branch managers in how to successfully navigate a DOT inspection by ensuring that our vehicles are safe and properly represent Continental Battery Systems out on the road.  Tom has joined our Branch Manager calls in the region during fleet week in order to coach us all on how to prepare for increased inspections during periods of higher scrutiny.  Tom's experience both behind the wheel of a truck and in the battery business is an invaluable resource - Tom is a one-team hero.

"When I had to start helping our St Pete location, that meant I was not at our Lakeland facility enough for constant support. So I turned to Darnell to pick up more responsibility. I took one of our drivers off of the road to put at our front desk to assist with daily ops within the branch. In doing this, I needed someone to take over what that driver was doing. Darnell came to me and said that he would take on what our driver was doing along with doing his job at the same time. We sat down and figured out just exactly how he was going to be able to manage both jobs at the same time. We had a plan and off he went. I had concerns that this might cause customers to be overlooked, but let me tell you, Darnell has gone above and beyond.
